We call ourselves ThirdQuarter because we are a non-profit, online job service for Canadian men and women aged 45 years and over now in the 'third quarter' of their professional and working careers.
Established in 2010 through a collaboration of the chambers of commerce in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and the Atlantic Provinces, ThirdQuarter is endorsed by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and has national scope and outreach.
Skills Connect is a federally-incorporated, non-profit organization which was founded by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Chambers manages ThirdQuarter and is, in turn, governed by its own board of directors; with the Manitoba Chambers as a corporate member.

A true alternative to waiting for resumes and job opportunities to arrive in the usual ways, ThirdQuarter uses an essential, skills-based matching system that links seasoned job applicants with the qualifications today's Human Resources experts require for the many, diverse positions they need to fill. There is No Cost to individuals to prepare or post their resumes at our website. There is, however, a competitive fee schedule for companies to post a position for a period of four to six weeks. As a result, this particular demographic group has to overcome its own unique obstacles. These include the reluctance of some businesses and corporations to 'Think outside the Box' when it comes to hiring anyone over age 45. Unfortunately, this is often reinforced by the realities of Canada's aging population, ageism in general, and society's obsession with youth. This is where ThirdQuarter comes in...

Today, thanks to the continued support from Ottawa together with a growing number of partnerships and affiliates, we are now in the process of making our service accessible right across Canada.
We found that 60 per cent of the firms indicated that they had hired a mature worker in the past two years while 79 per cent indicated that they were likely or certain to hire mature candidates in the future.
We discovered that our clients hired Canadians over age 45 because of the proven people skills and experience they bring with them. These firms also reported that mature workers are more productive, relate better to clients and customers, and require less training and less supervision.
Over the next three years, ThirdQuarter's job service will become accessible to mature Canadians in British Columbia, Quebec, the Maritimes and North of 60. Our forecast: more and more Canadians on both sides of the employment equation will soon realize what those who have reaped the rewards at ThirdQuarter already know—maturity is an asset—especially in today's job marketplace.
